This is a standalone, and therefore very hands-on HR role suited to someone who can combine strong HR knowledge with a practical, approachable style. You will work closely with employees, managers and the senior leadership team, providing advice, managing employee relations and helping to develop a positive and engaging workplace culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HR MANAGER:
- Manage the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through to performance management and leavers / exit interviews and other associated ER activities.
- Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, redundancies, absence and performance issues.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, processes and procedures.
- Lead and support recruitment, including job descriptions, interviews, offers and onboarding and inductions.
- Manage performance reviews and appraisal processes.
- Support learning, development and training initiatives.
- Monitor employee engagement, retention, wellbeing and workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR systems.
- Produce HR reports and provide people-related insight to senior management.
- Work closely with payroll and finance to ensure accurate employee information.
- Support reward, benefits, workforce planning and wider HR projects.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
This is a newly created position, and the ideal candidate will have proven experience as an HR Manager or have worked in a similar HR leadership role, with strong knowledge of employment legislation and employee relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience of working with and advising managers and senior leaders.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to handle challenging and sensitive situations.
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
- High levels of discretion, integrity and professionalism.
- Strong knowledge of HR systems and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.
- Up to date knowledge of HR legislation and best practice, as well as confidence to handle changing UK and European legislation as it arises.
- Previous Payroll experience would be ideal, as this will sit within the HR manager’s remit.
CIPD qualification or equivalent is essential, as is experience of working within a fast-paced or growing organisation.
The ideal HR Manager will be approachable, supportive and people-focused, but also commercially aware and confident making decisions.
You should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities and providing practical HR solutions across the business.
WHAT’S ON OFFER:
- Salary up to £55,000, depending on experience
- Company bonus scheme
- Generous 25 days’ holiday plus Bank Holidays
- Company pension scheme
- Hybrid work arrangement
- Free onsite parking
If you are an experienced HR professional looking for a varied, hands-on role where you can make a real impact, we would love to hear from you.
