PROJECT FUNDING AND FINANCE ADMINISTRATOR:  
Are you an experienced finance or funding professional with experience in public sector grants and funding?

Do you have experience of managing or processing grant claims, monitoring project budgets and ensuring compliance with public / government funding requirements?

Our client is a leading UK charity delivering nationally significant projects. They are looking for a Project Funding & Finance Administrator to join their growing team, supporting the financial management and administration of a diverse portfolio of publicly funded projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of public sector or government-funded programmes, grant administration and project finance, who enjoys working with multiple stakeholders and ensuring funding is managed accurately and compliantly.

THE ROLE:

The Project Funding and Finance Administrator will work as part of a collaborative finance and projects team, and will be responsible for the financial administration of a wide range of grant-funded projects, from the initial phases through to final claim and audit.

You will play a key role in ensuring funding is claimed accurately and within agreed time frames, project budgets are monitored effectively and all funder requirements are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PROJECT FUNDING AND FINANCE ADMINISTRATOR:

  • Prepare, collate and submit grant claims to a range of public sector funders.
  • Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and funding milestones.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
  • Work closely with Finance, HR, Project Managers and Heads of Projects to gather information required for grant claims and financial reporting.
  • Support the preparation of project budgets for funding applications.
  • Ensure compliance with individual fund guidance and grant conditions.
  • Coordinate financial audits for funded projects and liaise with external auditors.
  • Provide regular financial updates and project spend reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with project partners to support the financial delivery of funded projects.
  • Attend project meetings, prepare reports and maintain accurate project records, as and when required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:  

Our client is looking for someone who has experience working with public sector funding from a finance, grants or project administration perspective.
You will need to be confident to quickly establish yourself within the role, in order to work with complex funding rules, multiple deadlines and a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Previous experience administering or financially managing public sector funded projects is essential for this role.
  • Experience preparing and submitting grant claims and supporting financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, expenditure monitoring and financial compliance.
  • Experience working with government or publicly funded programmes.
  • Excellent Excel and spreadsheet skills.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and record-keeping.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across finance, project and external partner teams.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience of supporting collaborative projects involving universities, research organisations, NGOs or European funding programmes  would also be beneficial.
