Production Scheduler / Production Planner

As the Production Planner, to manage daily production planning, scheduling and support on-time delivery within a busy engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Production Planner:

  • Maintain and update the production schedule using an in house scheduling system.
  • Translate production forecasts into detailed schedules, coordinating materials and resources, and maintaining the production process, to ensure that the team meet customer expectations
  • Communicate schedule updates and negotiate delivery dates with customers directly (over the telephone / email).
  • Raise works orders and ensure all requirements are captured accurately.
  • Work with Production to resolve schedule slippages and implement recovery plans.
  • Liaise with Purchasing to ensure raw material availability.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate planning data via order management software and other internal systems, and generate reports to highlight progress, risks, bottlenecks etc.
  • Identify process gaps and support initiatives to enhance planning quality and efficiency
  • Monitor material issuing and inventory levels.
  • Provide monthly KPI reporting.
  • Support Quality with corrective actions and reviews.

The Production Planner will be required to have:

  • Experience in production planning or scheduling ideally within engineering/manufacturing or a resource planning environment.
  • Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills.
  • Confident working under pressure and managing multiple priorities.
  • This is a standalone position, so whilst you will be working closely with various internal stakeholders (Operations, purchasing, production, quality) you will need to be self-motivated, with the confidence to manage and set your own priorities, in order to achieve objectives.
  • Advanced Excel – essential
  • Confidence with ERP / MRP or other similar planning tools is essential
  • Data monitoring experience – largely system generated, but you will need to be able to manage and manipulate data through the order management software.
  • systems savvy, with a data driven mindset
