We are currently recruiting for an experienced 3rd Line Engineer to join an established IT Support team, within a large Dorset based organisation.  The successful 3rd Line Engineer will be involved in supporting the existing infrastructure including servers, storage, network, data and applications as well as playing an active part in project-based work, to improve and enhance the infrastructure environment.
 
The 3rd Line Engineer will have extensive experience of working within a busy IT team and be confident in both the design and implementation of technical solutions, supporting servers, desktops, and operating systems. Previous experience of technical troubleshooting and problem solving is essential and in addition, the individual will be expected to deal with any system issues as and when they occur. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Administering the company infrastructure
-Working within an ITIL based service desk, delivering third line support and infrastructure projects and troubleshooting and resolving complex issues
-Recommending and delivering defined IT infrastructure systems, recommending enhancements to ensure that IT capacity meets the business needs.
-Investigation, resolution and/or escalation of outstanding incidents and problems in line with agreed SLA’s
-Managing IT projects to meet pre-defined objectives  
-Providing responsive and professional support for staff across the organisation / multiple sites.
-Administer and maintain IT infrastructure – including Active Directory, Windows Servers, LAN, Internet access, Exchange 2016+, firewalls and security applications.
-Administer the VMware vSphere infrastructure and SAN, backup and replication infrastructure ·
-Administer the Citrix v7 environment
-Administer software applications and desktop operating systems
-Administer the Cisco network switching infrastructure as well as VoIp telephone systems
-Ensure continuous operation of internal networks, infrastructure and hosting system dependencies in line with company SLA’s.

SKILLS & COMPETENCE:
 
-Experience of working to ITIL standards – essential
-Extensive knowledge of the following:  
-Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
-VMware vSphere in an enterprise environment
-Active Directory, GPO, DHCP, DNS & general system administration (ideal)
-Citrix XenApp v7 in an enterprise environment
-Microsoft Exchange Server 2016, as well as Microsoft SQL Server 2012+
-Troubleshooting networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs and VPNs.
-Backup procedures and the configuring and maintaining of the backup and replication software
-Patch management deployment/Windows Software Update Services
-VoIP technology
-A team focussed mindset is essential for this role.  Whilst you will need to be able to work on your own, you will be based within a team environment and work closely with your colleagues to achieve the overall objections of the IT Department.
-Excellent communication skills are essential – both written and spoken.  You will liaise with people at all levels, both in person and over the phone / email.  
-Time management and strong organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work well under pressure, to meet project deadlines.
